Vanguard Wallet
A complete redesign of a consumer-facing digital banking wallet, focusing on clarifying core transactional friction points and reducing onboarding churn.
Too many steps to send.
Vanguard's initial product suffered from a high rate of transaction abandonment. Users were overwhelmed by dozens of security details, nested menus, and confusing labels. A simple transfer required 7 screen changes and 14 separate taps.
We were tasked with redesigning the UX architecture from the ground up, maintaining strict regulatory compliance while condensing the user journey to its absolute essentials.
Friction containment.
We mapped the workflow into a single progressive disclosure framework. Instead of loading multiple pages, we utilised cards that slide in and out of focus vertically.
We grouped inputs into three clear questions: Who are you sending to? How much are you sending? How do you want to authenticate?
Crafting the interface.
We built the UI using Otiis's disciplined black-and-yellow aesthetic guidelines. The application uses Space Grotesk for monetary scales and Space Mono for labels.
Speed and stability.
The redesigned payment flow reduced completion times from 90 seconds to under 12 seconds. By containing the onboarding screens inside a progressive module, Vanguard saw a 420% increase in successfully verified accounts.
The design has since been adopted as Vanguard's master visual model across their product line.
